Description:
An experienced public policy research firm is seeking a Controller to oversee business and accounting operations, while also liaising with key principals on strategic matters. The role will be most suitable for professionals with prior government contracting accounting experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the organization’s main point of contact for accounting matters, liaising frequently with internal stakeholders and external partners
- Maintain projects, including project billing and reporting requirements, within accounting software, ensuring DCAA compliance
- Support indirect cost submissions, annual audit, and other ad hoc requests
- Oversee expense reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
- Review semi-monthly payroll, as well as time reporting and processing
- Maintain accounting policies and procedures, updating with current and most applicable guidance
- Encourage and drive collaboration between project and accounting staff
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in government contract accounting, to include an understanding of: Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) standards
- Experience managing end-to-end accounting processes with limited oversight
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with a meticulous attention to detail
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
