Description:
The Construction Sales Estimator is responsible for generating accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects while driving sales opportunities. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, sales acumen, and strong communication skills to ensure that clients receive precise estimates and exceptional service. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction estimating and a proven track record in sales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate Preparation:
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop detailed cost estimates.
- Perform quantity take-offs and apply appropriate pricing for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Prepare and submit accurate estimates within established deadlines.
- Sales Support:
- Collaborate with the sales team to understand client needs and project requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support during client meetings and presentations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Client Interaction:
- Present and explain estimates to clients, addressing any concerns or questions.
- Assist in negotiating contracts and securing new business.
- Follow up on submitted bids to close sales and gather feedback for future estimates.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:
- Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to confirm scope and cost accuracy.
- Market and Competitor Analysis:
- Stay informed on market trends, pricing, and competitor offerings to ensure estimates are competitive.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering to offer cost-effective solutions to clients.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications in construction estimation or sales are a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimation, with a focus on sales.
- Proven experience in generating and closing sales within the construction industry.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Proficient in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and CRM tools.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
