Description:
Chewy Pharmacy is seeking a Compounding Lab Pharmacist Lead in Louisville, KY. This position is responsible for serving as a lab Lead within the compounding pharmacy. This position will work directly with compounding leadership to support various functions across the pharmacy. This could include shift planning, nonhazardous and hazardous drug compounding, tableting, ingredient receiving, customer/vet escalations, and other miscellaneous aspects of the compounding business that may arise as the business grows.
What You'll Do
- Serve as in lab leader and liaison between pharmacy management and staff pharmacists and technicians to build an environment of open communication across all shifts and labs.
- Directly perform, supervise, and oversee the operations of nonhazardous, hazardous, and tableting labs in accordance with standard operating procedures and relevant regulations, including USP and
- Coach and develop compounding technicians and pharmacists to improve the overall quality and TPH of the labs.
- Collaborate with management with a positive attitude to drive business growth and operations.
- Oversee that the lab team remains compliant with miscellaneous lab and safety measures in place such as proper PPE, equipment use, cleaning and handling of everything within the labs.
- Participate in weekly CPLL meetings to discuss topics including but not limited to: processes, workflow, compliance, quality improvement, system enhancements and software development.
- Assist pharmacy management in developing, managing, and coaching a group of staff pharmacist and technicians. Provide ongoing training and coaching as needed as well as communication to HCP, POMs and Formula Manager on any opportunities for improvement.
- Assist pharmacy management in developing and maintaining clear and measurable expectations amongst the compounding pharmacist and technician team.
- Engage pharmacist and technician team by seeking feedback on new processes or compounds. Report findings to HCP, POMs, and Formula Manager.
- Help analyze team performance and processes to improve quality and efficiency. Provide consistent feedback to management team.
- Identify training gaps and partner with compounding pharmacy management and learning team to help develop plans for pharmacists and technicians.
- Write or review standard operating procedures related to nonhazardous, hazardous, and tablet compounding including quality assurance and quality control
- Identify, respond, solve, and escalate issues with equipment, applications/technology, and personnel
- Maintain complete, accurate, and compliant documentation for qualifications, operations, and maintenance of all equipment including but not limited to the homogenizers, Inversinas, Haushchilds, tablet machines, hoods etc.
- Assist compounding leadership in identifying and evaluating process changes or additional equipment to improve the compounding pharmacy
- Coordinate with other CPLLs, compounding inbound/outbound teams and management from other departments to provide services to SDF2/4/6.
- When required, wear all personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to understand and adhere to all organizational standard operating procedures
- Willingness to complete external training as required as well as gain any additional licenses as required.
- What You'll Need
- Current Kentucky Pharmacist License
- Knowledge of principles, theories and laws, policies and procedures that pertain to compounding- specifically USP , , other USP general chapters, and best compounding practices
- Must display excellent problem-solving skills
- Willing to gain any additional licenses as required
- Strong customer service and attention to detail
- Ability to lead a team in a fast paced, high-volume environment
- Ability to work a variety of schedules including evenings, holidays, and weekends
