Communications Program Manager

Description:

The Communications Program Manager will work with the Director of External Relations to manage the many moving parts of the launch and rollout of SRM360 later this year and into 2025. The role requires a highly organised person who enjoys and has experience of tracking and collating multiple sources of information, and managing comms processes including website, social, media monitoring, working with producers and designers, disseminating briefings and newsletters, and tracking community relations. Above all, we are looking for someone who will relish bringing together a broad set of activities into a smooth and seamless launch operation.

Specific knowledge of SRM is not necessary, although a familiarity with climate change and science communications will be an advantage. The Director of External Relations and other team members can bring the programme manager up to speed on the complex issues and players around SRM, as well as the initiative’s messaging and positioning.

The candidate will be a self-starter able to hit the ground running, under the guidance of the Director and working with SRM360’s operations team, to manage activities including:

  • Working with content teams to make sure everything is in place on the website;
  • Media monitoring, including choosing the right platform and processes to collate and summarise key articles, and present regular briefings and updates to the team;
  • SRM360’s social media activities, including setting up accounts, posting as SRM360, tracking the conversation, and establishing guidance for staff and collaborators;
  • Mapping and establishing relations with a broad community, including scheduling a series of interviews and briefings over the coming months, and gathering and collating key information about community activities, insights, and needs;
  • Production and dissemination of briefing documents, graphics, videos, press advisories, and newsletters to journalists, policy-makers, educators, and the climate community, including keeping contact and mailing lists up to date;
  • Tracking and organizing opportunities around key events in the international SRM and climate policy calendar.
