Collections Technician

Description:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inventory of slide-mounted specimens
• Barcoding slides
• Batch scanning slides or labels and splitting images
• Transcribing and databasing label data

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in biology with an emphasis in Entomology or related fields) with at least 1 year of experience in Entomological Collections
• Knowledge of taxonomic principles
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Familiarity with collection databases (preferably EMu), digitization, and specimen imaging skills highly desirable
• Experience with handling insect specimens
