Overview:
- Delivers and coordinates the delivery of the Mercy nurse residency program to new graduate nurses. Responsible for updating the curriculum in alignment with evidenced based practice.
- Develops a comprehensive orientation and competency plan for new graduate nurses and specialty transfer nurses.
- Coordinates scheduling of new hires for residency education sessions
- Maintains residency education records
- Communicates with leaders on delinquent education requirements.
- Creates a climate conducive to learning by fostering a good relationship with learners in a diverse environment
- Maintains proficiency in adult teaching strategies and education tools/methods (virtual/in-person) that develop and enhance critical thinking skills (e.g., mock events, simulation, writing case scenarios, etc.)
- Partners with peers in delivering education:
- Partner with unit-based educators an onboarding educators to deliver core orientation curriculum and close knowledge gaps in unit identified deficiencies.
- Serves as adjunct faculty with academic School of Nursing partners
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical hospital based experience
- Required Education: Graduate from an accredited RN program. BSN or must be active in a BSN program.
- Preferred Education: BSN/MSN
- Certifications: BLS
