Description:
The Civil Certification Engineer - System Safety acts as the primary technical liaison between the certification department and the various engineering teams regarding system safety. The job requires experience in designing aircraft systems and a strong understanding of aircraft certification principles. It is expected that Civil Certification Engineer is proficient in both the technical subject matter and the certification process.
This position will be required to work on-site 5 days a week.
What you can do:
- Provide support to Sr. Civil Certification Engineers and assist with certification initiatives as assigned at project level
- Maintain awareness of new regulatory requirements and guidance materials as they are released
- Coordinate certification requirements updates to the engineering team and provide certification inputs as part of the design process
- Communicate any design changes or proposed design changes with potential certification impacts back to the certification team
- Contribute to the development and coordination of subject-level certification plans by collaborating with certification and engineering teams
- Support technical meetings between FAA and Supernal personnel as they relate to system safety certification
- Participate in applicable industry working groups as assigned
- Provide assistance to various departments as directed
- Provide technical inputs and checks of certain certification documents
- Partner with PMO organization to implement build plan
- Up to 10% of domestic and international travel
- Other duties as assigned
What you can contribute:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace/Aeronautical, Systems, or industrial Engineering required
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in engineering (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
- Experience in working with aircraft systems, components, and system safety analysis
- Experience with document and data organization/management
- Knowledge of industry standards related to aircraft systems and components (ICAO, SAE, RTCA, EUROCAE, etc.), especially ARP 4761 and ARP 4754
- Knowledge of FAA Orders and guidance related to System Safety, including AC 23.1309
- Knowledge of the FAA Type Certification and Production Certification processes
- Knowledge of 14 CFR airworthiness requirements (Parts 23, 25, 27, and/or 29)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive delivery of communication and follow up
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must have the ability to independently prioritize and accomplish work within time constraints
- Proficiency with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, MS Office Suite
