- Oversee, guide, and supervise the work of directors and managers who are responsible for the daily functions of work within the Facilities, Maintenance, Custodial, Safety & Security, Transportation, Food & Nutrition Services, and Infrastructure Technology.
- Provide vision and leadership development to the leaders within assigned departments. Maximize efficiencies within assigned departments.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and district policies related to assigned departments.
- Provide overall vision, leadership, technical support, and guidance for implementation of projects described in the District’s Long-Range Plan. Principal reviewer of the master facility plans and the District’s Long-Range Plan.
- Direct the process of real property acquisition and delivery of new school construction. Provides oversight for new construction and renovation projects in conjunction with the Director of Facilities.
- Develop short- and long-term plans to accomplish District goals and objectives in each department supervised. Oversee budget procedures for each assigned department. Assist with establishing the overall budget, reviewing the budget, and ensuring the department operates within their budget.
- Assist with identifying long-term needs for budget purposes within assigned departments. Assist with analysis of facility needs and capital asset needs. Propose program changes as needed. Provide long-term planning for new facilities, remodeling projects and additions, as well as district commodities and assets.
- Confer with principals and supervisors to determine building/facility needs. Make recommendations based upon enrollment, budget parameters, student and staff needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and strategies designed to create and maintain safe, functional, secure, clean, and orderly facilities to ensure efficient and economical operations.
- Facilitate the district Sustainability Committee and provide oversight for the work of the committee. Manages cost-control/energy savings programs.
- Work with other governmental agencies regarding joint use agreements, leases, planning, traffic issues, and development activities.
- Conduct meetings with architects, contractors, city and/or county planners and engineers, community members and district staff to communicate facility development and changes.
- Ensure the district maintains an Emergency Management Plan. Assist the Director of Safety & Security in coordinating the district’s emergency and crisis response teams including school closure during severe weather or under unusual circumstances. Assists the Director of Safety & Security with risk management and liability insurance.
- Draft policies and administrative procedures for consideration and action by the Superintendent and prepare information for the Board of Education as appropriate.
- Attend Board Meetings on a regular basis to represent Divisions. Arrange for attendance of Department Leaders as needed for topics on the agenda. Direct the preparation of Board of Education reports and summaries for identified departments.
- Ensure that the district maintains compliance with relevant Operational Expectations and has the environment necessary to make reasonable progress on the Results Policies of the District.
- Ensure alignment with the work of the assigned departments with the mission and vision set out by the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate department leaders and assigned support staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Bachelor’s degree in a major pertinent to the position requirements: Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, Operations Management, or related applicable filed. Master’s degree in related field preferred. Criminal background check required for hire.
