Piper Maddox has been engaged by one of our top global clients in the decarbonization space. Our client is a leading global company in the materials industry, dedicated to sustainability and innovation - with over 15 currently operating assets in North America.
We are seeking a CCUS Specialist to join the North American project team focused on Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) projects to decarbonize their existing assets. In this role, you will support various phases of CCUS projects—from feasibility studies to execution—and play a key part in our efforts to decarbonize the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Engineering Expertise: Act as the leading authority in process engineering within carbon capture initiatives.
- Project Oversight: Manage the technological components of feasibility assessments, option selection, and initial engineering design phases.
- Process Optimization: Evaluate and enhance process designs, thermal and material balance calculations, and auxiliary plant systems.
- Technology Evaluation: Analyze a range of carbon capture technologies such as amine absorption, cryogenic methods, adsorption techniques, pressure swing adsorption, and membrane separations.
- Integration Planning: Devise strategies to incorporate CO₂ capture technologies into current facilities, emphasizing process optimization and thermal integration.
- Innovative Solutions: Develop cutting-edge concepts for pilot projects employing advanced technologies.
- Safety and Compliance: Engage in health, safety, and environmental evaluations such as Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP).
- Representation and Collaboration: Serve as the company's representative at project meetings and industry events, disseminating expertise and promoting best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering minimum. Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Industry Experience: Minimum of 10 years in industrial gases, natural gas processing, or CO₂ capture projects.
- Project Lifecycle: Proven experience across all project phases, from feasibility studies to execution and operation.
- Engineering Firms: Background with engineering companies, technology providers, or CO₂ capture project developers/operators.
- Process Engineering: Strong proficiency in process design, heat and material balances, and balance-of-plant systems.
- Carbon Capture Technologies: Deep understanding of more than one fundamental CCUS technology.
- Process Simulation Software: Proficiency in tools like Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II, or equivalent.
- Standards and Regulations: Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to CO₂ capture and storage.
- HS&E Assessments: Experience conducting health, safety, and environmental assessments such as HAZID and HAZOP.
- Analytical Abilities: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities for effective collaboration.
- Innovation Mindset: Keen interest in developing innovative solutions and staying updated with industry advancements.
