Description:
Buyer position supports site-level and corporate purchasing requirements for both direct and indirect materials and services. Effectively communicates with suppliers and internal customers to ensure on-time delivery. Notifies stakeholders of procurement related issues as they arise and drives them to resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Plans, schedules, and monitors material through the production cycle to ensure adequate inventory levels.
- Analyzes purchasing requirements.
- Quotes material and placement of purchase orders.
- Negotiates a best price and optimal delivery of materials and services.
- Locates sources for inventory and non-inventory items.
- Interacts with suppliers for on-time delivery scheduling.
- Communicates Material Resource Planning (MRP) changes and forecasts to meet optimum inventory levels and minimize excess inventory.
- Coordinates with internal departments to resolve issues and improve processes related to the procurement of materials and services
- Confers with Quality Assurance and Engineering to resolve vendor quality and delivery issues.
- Works miscellaneous procurement projects as required by management.
- Adds new vendors to Approved Vendor List and ERP system as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- 1+ years related experience
- Manufacturing environment experience
- Strong cost negotiation and supplier management skills
- Experience in semi-conductor/circuit card assembly manufacturing procurement
- Ability to manage tasks in a fast paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as an ability to work well in a team
- Proficient in the full suite of Microsoft Office™ products – Excel, Word, Visio, Power Point; especially with pivot tables
