Duties and Responsibilities
(NOTE: ** denotes Essential Functions)

  • **Provide direct business development services for clients, such as information research, financing alternatives, government program certification assistance, market research and analysis, feasibility studies, business plans and financial and operational analysis
  • **Maintain files and provides status and accountability for client projects
  • **Create marketing material for program, events, activities and a newsletter
  • **Develop and maintain relationships with key financial institutions, including commercial banks, venture capital funds, angel investment organizations, government agencies providing financing, and other financing resources
  • **Maintain proper communication with clients and staff
  • **Assist with the development of proposals for client projects
  • **Collect feedback and evaluations from clients
  • **Assist in maintaining database of technical services, business resources and capital sources
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business, Business Administration or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for developing business plans, loan packaging, financial analysis, feasibility studies, market research and marketing; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  • Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of drafting and negotiating business contracts, financing alternatives, contracting, and establishing a network of capital.
  • Working knowledge of Federal certifications (such as 8(a), HUBZone, Women-Owned Business (WOSB), and Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOSB) as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with grants.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software, spreadsheet software, presentation software and database management.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Experience working with interagency business service/support organizations
  • Experience with Federal, State, and city funded economic development programs
  • Experience in commercial lending, loan packaging, Small Business Administration (SBA) financing, and other government and private sector lending financing vehicles
  • Knowledgeable of venture capital, angel investing, and other equity funding sources
  • Experience in writing and submitting grant proposals
  • Knowledge of SalesForce platform
  • Experience in business development and community service liaison for a university or public or private sector organization
  • Knowledge of UH and RCUH policies, procedures, and accounting systems
