Business Development Specialist

Description:

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for activities authorized under Sections 8(a) and 7(j) of the Small Business Act. These activities are intended to provide business development assistance to firms that are owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals.

The incumbent will provide general information on the purpose of the 8(a)BD program, the eligibility requirements for participation in the 8(a)BD program and explains the application process.

Under the direction of a senior staff member, the incumbent actively engages in business development activities in all the socioeconomic certification programs to include:

• Assessing business needs of firms based upon business plan;
• Entry into Federal, state, municipal, and commercial markets;
• Provides advice/counseling to assist firm in the development of realistic and attainable objectives for their business in regard to federal contracting.
• Maintains District office expenditures using SBA financial management systems.
