Our client, an international logistics provider is looking to hire an experienced Business Development Manager, Freight Forwarding to be based remotely on the East Coast, USA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Focus on selling Freight Forwarding services including Import, Export, Air, Ocean, and Road Freight
- Liaise with and request quotes directly from shipping lines and airlines
- Seek opportunities to generate new business and increase sales through prospecting and cold calling
- Prepare quotes for international freight forwarding services
- Negotiate rates and route freight when necessary
- Ensure sales targets are met and exceeded
- Attend industry relevant events to generate leads, increase brand awareness and build relationships
Main Requirements:
- At least 2 years Sales & Business Development experience in Freight Forwarding, Logistics or Shipping
- Experience selling Import, Export, Air, Ocean, and Road Freight services, US Government experience an advantage
- Experience working directly with and obtaining quotes from shipping lines and airlines
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to build lasting relationships with new and existing clients
- Happy to travel as required
