Business Development Manager
The Business Development Manager will report to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing. This individual will play a critical role in the Compounds Group Strategic Marketing Plan to accelerate market penetration with existing products and expand our product portfolio based on core competencies and market demands. Furthermore, the business development manager will provide sales, marketing, and technical guidance to account managers, engineering staff, and operations to elevate the quality of our products, increase production efficiencies, and more competitively market our products.
Location: Compounds Group, Marmon Electrical: CCG (Connecticut, USA), Gendon (Bolton, Ontario)
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Teach, guide, and mentor Sales & Marketing team to sell compounds and extruded components more effectively into Wire & Cable and adjacent markets.
- Connect Sales & Marketing team with key stakeholders and decision makers at the customer level to better position our products and services.
- Support technical marketing i.e. trade journal articles, white paper generation, and trade shows
- Support the development of a Next Best Alternative (NBA) list regarding competitive landscape information to inform value pricing and strategic position of products
- Act as VP Sales & Marketing “right-hand” in tactical selling, market dynamic management, and customer negotiations
- Act as an advisor to the Senior Leadership Team i.e. President and Vice Presidents on strategic marketing of Fluoropolymer Color Concentrates, Fire-Retardant Compounds, and Wire & Cable products for long-term sustainable growth
- Provide guidance on acquisition targets and competitor strengths/weaknesses
- Develop understanding of Compounding Group capabilities and leverage towards new opportunities.
- Maintain close relationships with clients while fostering new ones with a focus on decision makers and cross-functional engagement (i.e. purchasing, engineering, operations & management)
- Continuously seek better understanding of material science and technical performance of Compounding Group’s product portfolio to become a solution provider to customers
- Investigate and document new markets and identify new opportunities by listening to the Voice of the Customer to develop products that fill market gaps and alleviate pain points
- Partner with Engineering Team to understand emerging technologies and build a business case for the development of new compounds
- Actively engage clients at all levels with both new and existing products through direct involvement, continuous communication and support trials at prospects to accelerate product’s adoption
- Maintain Sales Reporting in CRM and call reports for all relevant customer information, meetings, and discussions
Position Requirements/Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Represents the company with a professional demeanor and ethical manner
- Knowledge of Fluoropolymers, Fire Retardant Compounds, and Finished Cable Sales
- Understanding of Wire & Cable technical standards is preferred
- Familiar with MS Office and ERP systems
- Proactive work ethic for a growing business
