The Business Development Manager is responsible for executing the Water Segment go to market strategy in Motion Business Area in the assigned region. This includes identifying and developing target accounts (consulting engineers, municipalities, System Integrators, OEMs). Developing these accounts includes gaining specification position at both municipalities and consulting engineers, to increase sales, market penetration and position of ABB and our products. This includes determining long-term strategic goals, building and maintaining customer relationships, and securing specification position and sales growth. Tactical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing sales strategies, sales training for both channel partners and ABB sales, coordinating commercial and pricing agreements, developing and implementing business partnership proposals and performing risk analysis of identified opportunities

Your responsibilities

  • Lead and develop water solution sales for Low Voltage Drives at targeted consulting engineers, municipalities, system integrators, OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Accounts by using company resources to establish a differentiated value proposition around ABB drives, the world’s largest drives manufacturer, Implementing short and long term business plan and actions, work closely with District Offices and Direct Sales Resources to drive water pursuits through teaming to coordinate sales activities and collaborating with other ABB Divisions and the Industry Teams to develop sales opportunities
  • Establish strong working relationships at multiple levels with key customers and end users, Identifying key contacts and decision makers within organizations
  • Work closely as the main liaison between the customer and ABB Engineering and Product Management to develop solutions specific to customer applications
  • Provide important market and customer feedback to ABB for product improvements and new product development
  • Maintain detailed records of all interactions with customers through Salesforce.com CRM tool, including building an accurate opportunity funnel and maintaining a sales forecast
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales budget in targeted business and industry segment, providing regular account summary reports to Sales Manager, Industry Manager, and Channel Manager
  • Remain current on industry trends, product applications, market activities and competitive products. Attend industry functions and events as required. Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations

Your background

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 8 years of technical product sales experience selling into the municipal water industry required
  • Previous experience with drives, municipal water, wastewater, pumps, or AC motors required
  • Travel up to 70% in assigned territory required
  • Candidates must have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the USA
