We are looking for a person with a proactive mindset and solid commercial and business development skills to join our US Business Development Team based in Boston, Massachusetts. As Business Development Manager, your key role is to lead the growth in our offshore wind project portfolio, support securing new project opportunities, progress the development of new project proposals, and evaluate new market entry opportunities. You will become an important part of the company and have key responsibilities for enabling growth across US markets.

COP is a specialized provider of project development and construction management services to offshore wind projects, including leading the development and construction of the first utility-scale offshore wind project in the US, Vineyard Wind 1. CIP and COP’s development activities are growing rapidly with projects in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. Furthermore, you should have a strong capability to build relationships and communicate efficiently across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

This position will report to the US Director of Business Development as part of a US-based team supported by a central organization located in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is a chance to be a part of one of the leading US organizations developing new offshore wind projects in the US.

Areas of responsibility

  • Project manage the identification and assessment of commercial opportunities for offshore wind energy offtake, and lead the development and preparation of proposals for offshore wind procurements and support bilateral offtake negotiations
  • Identify and assess new market and project opportunities in North America, including acquisition of seabed leases, and support development of market entry strategies and market development, including coordinating input/engagement with state and local policymakers and regulators to mature new market opportunities
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with potential development, supply chain, port infrastructure, and/or transmission partners and other key stakeholders in the offshore wind industry to position COP and CIP to secure new opportunities for lease areas and projects, including opportunities to secure power purchase agreements through state-led competitive auctions;
  • Project manage the engagement with key stakeholders, including state and local officials, regulators, utilities, RTOs, and community leaders, to support offshore business development and offshore wind policy development
  • Coordinate internal workstreams with engineering, technical, outreach, permitting, finance, legal, EPC, and grid teams to support analysis as needed to ensure effective development of proposals and future projects
  • Manage all business case inputs with internal and external subject matter experts to complete project valuations and assessments of commercial opportunities.
  • Monitor, track, and analyze offshore wind competitive market intelligence and communicate periodically to key internal stakeholders
