Brown University Athletics and Recreation is currently seeking candidates for the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Business Development and Revenue Generation position. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-D1).
The Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Business Development and Revenue Generation serves as a key member of the Division of Athletics and Recreation (“Athletics”) senior leadership team. This position will lead the strategic generation of new revenue streams and attracting, planning, and implementing external events in Brown Athletics spaces. The position oversees the day-to-day administration and operation of Brown Athletics ticket office and marketing staff, and has oversight of all external events, including camps and clinics. This position will actively represent Brown Athletics in outbound business development outreach initiatives. In addition, this position will assist the Deputy AD/COO in daily management of the business relationship with the third-party rights holder. This position supervises five (5) full-time Athletic Ticketing and Marketing staff members as well as many seasonal and student event assistants.
All Division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League and ECAC rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions are required to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, required; Master’s preferred.
Seven (7) to 10 years’ experience in athletic administration, preferably with expertise in revenue generation, events and marketing/ticketing.
Demonstrated understanding of building systems and building service contracts.
Prior experience with revenue generation relationships and strategies.
Strong planning, management and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to utilize computer software and other requisite programs.
Experience supervising and managing others.
Must have strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be able to demonstrate a strong client service orientation; should be extremely customer focused on both internal and external customers and enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds.
Must be flexible with a high sense of accountability and responsibility.
Must have organizational skills and be excellent with details and follow-up and be able to manage multiple detailed tasks.
Must be able to work independently, be proactive and take initiative, including making difficult decisions with prioritizing program scheduling needs within divisional policies.
Willingness to be available on weekends or evenings when/if necessary.
Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
Must be physically able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Knowledge and understanding of, and commitment to compliance with, NCAA, ECAC, Ivy and University rules and regulations in regard to operations.
