Organon’s US Commercial Team is seeking a Director of Business Development and Commercial Planning. The role will span two important and interconnected functions that define and drive our Company's product portfolio and US business performance. The Business Development (BD) function is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing business transactions that add new products, programs, and technologies to our Company's commercial portfolio and pipeline. The Commercial Planning Function is critical to driving annual business and portfolio planning and ensuring the realization of our strategic priorities in the US Market. At Organon, we see these two functions as closely linked. The Director in this role will dedicate their time across these functional areas and have the capability to capitalize on and improve the integration of the two functions as a central coordinated capability in our Company's organization.
The integrated role will require the ability to build relationships and work closely with many internal functions and stakeholders, potential partners, and external parties. It will require the ability to set and influence strategy, keeping a broad view of the US Commercial Organization, our portfolio, and our future growth opportunities in consideration. A strong desire to drive progress, think creatively, collaborate efficiently, lead continuous improvement, and be accountable for successful business performance are key. The Director must bring a self-starter mentality to this role with a strong sense of accountability and demonstrated ability to deliver results quickly.
Business Development: The Director will be expected to bring a critical eye and apply their Business Development expertise in assessing our Company's BD approach and identifying then addressing areas for improvement and optimization of our business practices in service of establishing a future-proof BD process. They will embody a strong passion for BD, applying innovative thinking and market expertise to drive strategic and differentiating business development pursuits. The director will influence and develop US BD Strategy and lead the execution against opportunities that align with our strategy and business objectives. In partnership with functional leads, and the Global BD Function, and the direct report US BD teams, responsibilities include BD project leadership, deal identification, due diligence and deal assessment, negotiation, and transaction execution in the US Market.
Commercial Planning: The Director will be expected to lead Commercial Planning with a strong understanding of the US business. They will bring a similar eye for continuous improvement to our annual planning processes and drive strategic connection across business units and supporting functions. The Director will lead the Annual Planning process across the US Commercial organization. They will be informed by their BD insights, strong collaboration across our Business Unit (BU) teams, and coordination with supporting functional partners. Responsibilities include Annual Planning process ownership, coordination of functional partners in support of planning execution, and regular management of progress reporting transparency in service of performance against strategic plans.
The Director, BD and Commercial Planning will report to the Executive Director and Head, US Commercial Strategy and Operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead + Innovate with Expertise
Think creatively to enhance integration of BD + Commercial Planning as a central coordinated capability.
Refine BD and Commercial Planning processes to optimize efficiency.
Define and implement future-proofed BD processes that are designed to meet the needs of a future Organon and industry.
Influence and develop US BD Strategy and lead opportunities that align with our global strategy and business objectives.
In partnership with Global BD: project leadership across deal intake / triage, due diligence / deal assessment, negotiation, transaction execution in the US Market.
Advance new and ongoing collaborations.
Identify and engage key stakeholders across processes!
Manage simultaneous workstreams across multiple BUs.
Lead the Annual Planning process across US Commercial.
Coordinate planning execution with continued management of prioritization and progress reporting efforts.
Lead and develop a strong team contributing to the success of BD and CP objectives.
Collaborate
Partner with key stakeholders including Global BD team, US Business Unit Leads, internal Functional Partners, and key external vendors to collaboratively achieve shared business objectives.
Regularly inform the Head CS+P on progress against objectives and provide appropriate transparency to key stakeholders on progress and performance; develop and then maintain standardized reporting and transparency processes consistently and with attention to detail.
Apply an enterprise mindset to identify strategic disconnects or impactful gaps across plans or performance to ensure all BD and CP initiatives are synchronized with cross- functional partners.
Build
Grow Organizational BD and commercial planning competencies.
Expertly contribute to portfolio prioritization and growth strategy discussions, rapidly pulling through decisions into action plans.

Education Minimum Requirements:
Required: Bachelor’s degree
Preferred: Advanced degree and/or MBA
Required Experience and Skills:
At least 10-15 years of experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals, or medical device industry.
At least 5 years of experience in leading a team.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in contributing to annual Commercial Planning processes.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in leading annual Commercial Planning for at least one business unit, with a strong preference for cross-BU leadership experience.
Significant experience in pursuing Business Development opportunities within these industries; demonstrated ability to complete successful BD transactions.
Significant familiarity with commercial annual planning cycle and processes; demonstrated ability to translate strategic priorities to business objectives.
Experience collaborating across senior leaders in a matrixed organization.
Familiarity with the competitive market landscape.
Demonstrated experience in designing and successfully implementing new or improved strategic planning processes in either Commercial Planning or Business Development.
Demonstrated successful execution of a range of BD pursuits in resource-constrained environments across both Pharma and Medical Device.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in a leadership position that requires cross-functional coordination of peers at the director-level or above, complex process management and, and the ability to influence decisions.
Significant experience successfully vetting and pulling through demand intake and management.
