Description:
The Regional Vice President State Affairs Business Development and Growth is responsible for leading strategic business development activities for the enterprise businesses and positioning the company for growth, particularly driving new business, and retaining existing business with state and local governments through direct engagement and advocacy with state and local officials.
Responsibilities include:
- Organizes sales outreach and pipeline development with new and existing clients across all customer channels, leveraging the enterprise product solution roadmap, and ongoing client engagement.
- Oversees our national state and local officials group membership and engagement strategies.
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with state and local government officials, regulators, & policy makers.
- Manages and leverages national and local external consultants and lobbyists and drives national strategy around the Company’s political engagement including political contributions.
- Makes internal and external written and oral presentations on behalf of the State Affairs team and company.
- Serves as a leader in trade associations and other advocacy organizations to influence their positions, tactics, and strategies to support enterprise growth and business development goals, particularly with government.
- Coordinates ground game strategies and resources for State Affairs, including measuring the impact of that work on growth and retention. In markets with an established government relations presence, coordinates closely with the existing State Affairs team, including the plan, and business leadership in the state.
- Directs the development and maintenance of P&P to ensure the company’s awareness of & the impact on federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, & policy affecting the growth of the company.
Requires BA/BS in a related field and a minimum of 15 years of legislative, regulatory, political, public affairs or industry experience including prior management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide and equivalent background.
This position requires travel 65-75% of the time
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience working with external stakeholders (Externally: State and Local elected and appointed officials (and their key staff) including, but not limited to, Governors, Lieutenant Governors, Attorneys General, State Legislators, Insurance Commissioners, Budget Officers, Medicaid Directors, and Mayors.
- Knowledge of the state and local government official groups (SLOGs) and the members and staff.
- Experience developing and executing strategies to grow new business with and around government.
