Bioinformatics Intern

Description:

At our Pleasanton, CA campus, you will be assisting with a web application tool for processing and analyzing experimental data. This will involve full stack development on a data pipeline and web app development for data analysis. The bioinformatics team that you will be joining has several Python packages for analyzing data generated by our laboratory scientist colleagues. We are building a pipeline that automatically takes the data from the lab, uploads it to a database, and uses these packages for analysis based on experiment type. This automation will empower lab scientists to analyze their own experiments and allow the bioinformatics team to handle additional projects. You will help us build the pipeline and refine the Python packages to fit the needs of the experimentalists.

How You Will Make An Impact
 

• Assist bioinformatics teammates build and maintain web application for data storage and analysis.
• Assist bioinformatics teammates build dashboards for experimental data analysis applications.
• Refine Python packages for data analysis to fit needs of evolving experimental projects.
• Use software best practices to write modular, readable code.
• Participate in team & project meetings and present results/findings.
   

What You Bring
 

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in a STEM field or equivalent.
• Must have a 3.0 cumulative overall GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale).
• Basic understanding of computer programming.
• Proficient in Python or similar scripting language.
• Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Able to work for a minimum of 10 consecutive weeks in Pleasanton, CA
