Description:
The Benefits Senior Associate position is an ideal entry-level role for a detail-oriented professional looking to build a career in Employee Benefits or Human Resources. This role works closely with the Benefits Manager and 3rd-party vendors to support the day-to-day administration of the company’s benefit programs. This is a remote, work-from-home position with preference given to candidates in the Chicago metro area for ad hoc meetings and events.
Responsibilities:
- Act as day-to-day support to the Benefits Manager and Payroll department to facilitate the processing of benefit plans and payroll deductions.
- Process monthly billing & invoicing with internal and external partners.
- Assist employees on leave of absence with care and counseling, interfacing as needed with 3rd-party leave of absence administrator.
- Respond to basic inquiries by routing employees to the appropriate resource.
- Partner with other members of the Total Rewards team, HR Managers, and/or HR Business Partners to resolve escalated employee benefit issues.
- Collaborate with payroll and ensure that employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately.
- Process, review and respond to unemployment claims and workers comp claims with appropriate documentation.
- Assist with annual enrollment preparation, application testing, and updating documents
- Support miscellaneous projects as needed across the company’s Total Rewards function
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of employee benefits, payroll, or Human Resources administration.
- Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Teams, Sharepoint)
- 100% telecommuting permitted, with preference for candidates with the ability to periodically commute to downtown Chicago.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with HRIS platforms, preferably SAP/SuccessFactors.
- Experience with web-based reporting tools and vendor portals
- Working knowledge of U.S. benefit laws, such as ERISA, FMLA, HIPAA, and ADA.
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize workload and make necessary adjustments to meet business needs.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with a positive and proactive attitude.
