Associate Software Engineer

Description:

The Accelerated Weapons Systems and Readiness Department (N151) is transforming warfighter operations by accelerating the adoption and fielding of advanced weapons systems capabilities. We accomplish our mission by integrating operational domain knowledge, validated mission threads, and digital engineering to rapidly prototype capabilities and assess tradeoffs in virtual environments through representative modeling, simulation, and experimentation. We strongly value deep technical and operational expertise, a mission-oriented mindset, and a desire to firmly link the acquisition of advanced capabilities to operational warfighters, analysts, and end-users in the mission outcomes supported by our Operations in Contested Environments (N150) work program: F-35 Enterprise and Weapons Systems Integration.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Our department is seeking candidates with knowledge and interest in software design, development, and test. Candidates should have experience with object-oriented software and the software development lifecycle. The selected individual will be responsible for designing and developing application prototypes, reference implementations, and other operationally relevant software products in support of MITRE’s sponsors. The focus of this work is to accelerate transformational capabilities to the warfighter through prototyping, experimentation, and deep outreach to the operational community. This work is a critical segment of the Department’s overall work program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related field and 1 year of industry or academic experience with:
    • Full-stack software development and object-oriented programming (C, C++, Java, etc.)
    • Cybersecurity, Threat Analysis, and/or ISR technologies
    • Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis using industry standard tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, MATLAB, and/or AFSIM
