Department of Microbiology and Immunology: The department is strongly research-oriented, with 17 primary faculty members maintaining major programs in bacterial pathogenesis, cellular microbiology, immunology, and virology. The newly recruited faculty will have laboratory space in the new Clinical Translational Research Building (CTRB) that is fully equipped for research in molecular and cellular biology, including live cell imaging, genomics, flow cytometry and state of the art animal housing with germ-free facilities and whole animal imaging capability. Facilities and Research Partners: The U of L School of Medicine provides an excellent research environment, and the majority of the departmental faculty are also members of either the James Graham Brown Cancer Center (JGBCC), Center for Predictive Medicine (CPM) or Center for Microbiomics, Inflammation and Pathogenicity (CMIP). The Current position is for co-recruitment between M&I and JGBCC and offers a wide range of resources as well as collaborative research opportunities. The state-of-the-art facilities of the Immuno-Oncology (IO) program at the JGBCC to support basic, translational, and clinical infrastructures include a biorepository for clinical specimen collection, clinical trial office, and the CyTOF and Hyperion to comprehensively phenotype immune landscape within the tumor microenvironment. The candidate will have opportunity to participate in the Center for Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy (CCII) NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (CoBRE) award.

Candidate Requirements: Appointment is at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, with preference for candidates whose research expertise will complement existing strengths at the School of Medicine. The successful applicants will participate in departmental activities including graduate program and medical school teaching.
