POSITION SUMMARY: The Associate Director oversees content development for marketing initiatives to support undergraduate admissions and institutional marketing, including strategic support of academic departments and other campus organizations (e.g., Advancement, Student Life, Campus Police) as well as content for moravian.edu in collaboration with the Director of Marketing Operations. The Associate Director is a primary collaborator on all content used to effectively promote the University; including advertising, communication workflows, direct mail and marketing collateral. This position provides project management, creative services, and consultation across various departments on both campuses (Bethlehem and Lancaster.) The Associate Director provides editorial assistance to the user group of content editors across both campuses on various university websites.

The Associate Director should be a skilled strategic thinker; experienced in developing marketing communications, feature writing, and project management; adept at developing and managing oral and written communications about complex and sensitive topics; deeply committed to collaborating with cross-functional teams; committed to staying abreast of trends in higher education and admissions outreach; highly creative at putting such knowledge to work; and supportive of Moravian University's mission.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make independent, strategic decisions regarding the development of content for the University website(s), marketing collateral and other materials to effectively promote undergraduate programs, faculty and students.
  • Act as a liaison to search vendors for undergraduate enrollment to ensure the consistent and accurate use of University messaging.
  • Work alongside the Director of Marketing Operations to manage, develop, and update content on moravian.edu, including all academic program sites, administrative office sites, and the University events calendar. This also includes content for the creation or redesign of digital spaces as needed.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative departments across both campuses to meet their content marketing needs, including messaging, web presence, and content/collateral creation.
  • Write, edit, or provide consultation/project management on creative content marketing strategies and initiatives for undergraduate admissions. This may include the creation or editing of email drip campaigns, various taglines, marketing collateral copy and website landing pages.
  • Maintain and oversee use of the Moravian University "voice" across all platforms, digital and print.
  • Support the website content editors across both campuses, including providing direction for new content.
  • Assist the Director of Marketing Operations in new digital initiatives, including the further development and implementation of SEO, internal site search vendors, accessibility, analytics, and more as assigned.
  • Oversee long-term freelance content writers, student workers, and yearly interns, including the management of workload, organization, performance, and budget.
  • Along with the Art Director, act as a steward for the Moravian University brand, including oversight of design platforms Canva and on-campus digital signage.

QUALIFICATIONS: A baccalaureate degree in an appropriate field; proficient in the use of website CMS (e.g. Drupal or WordPress), Adobe Creative Suite, five or more years of experience in project management, content management, content marketing, and development; experience in marketing strategy, including the use of email campaigns, analytics, and SEO. Proven writing and web layout experience—appropriate computer skills necessary. The capacity to work with colleagues as a member of a team; willingness to give time over and above a "normal" work week; and belief in the mission and objectives of private higher education.
