Founded in 1819, Colgate is a small, highly selective residential liberal arts college for students of talent who are preparing for lives of leadership and productive citizenship. The University recently launched a $1B campaign in support of the Third-Century Plan, a comprehensive roadmap that will advance Colgates efforts to pursue its mission at the highest level and establish Colgate as one of the finest undergraduate institutions in the nation. One of the components-the Plan for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)- stands as Colgates most definitive plan in 200 years for elevating the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the institution.
Accountabilities:
- The Prospect Research Analyst will review, analyze and synthesize data as it relates to fundraising priorities. Identify philanthropic patterns, tendencies and relationships among constituents.
- Using wealth and data analytic screenings, validate/qualify those with the potential for portfolio inclusion. Participate in the maintenance of prospect lists and tracking systems.
- Analyze researched and in-house data and prepare reports related to prospective and current donors. Assist with the validation of wealth screening assets using paid and free sources.
- Actively monitor news publications, tying developments and trends back to work being done by the University and effectively communicating these with the appropriate team(s).
- Work closely with the Associate Director, Prospect Analytics & Reporting to produce campaign gift reports, dashboards, action reports, prospect reports, and various lists as requested.
- Assist in the creation of report materials for senior Advancement leadership.
Professional Experience/Qualifications
- Two or more years of related research and/or prospect management experience at a higher education institution or non-profit organization
- Highly proficient with Microsoft products, including Excel
- Proficient with Customer Relationship Management databases
- Demonstrated research, analytical, and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Must be able to work collegially and effectively with a diverse group of alumni, students, faculty, and staff on a daily basis
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with development databases and donor information services such as Foundation Directory, iWave, LexisNexis, Wealth-X, and other online prospect research tools is preferred
- Demonstrated experience with Blackbaud Raisers Edge, CRM, or NXT
