Associate Director For Advancement

Reporting directly to the Director for Advancement for the Division of Student Life (DSL), the Associate Director of Development for Major Gifts (Associate Director) will be responsible for assisting in the planning, strategy-setting, and execution of activities necessary to successfully secure major, and planned gifts and grants in support of the DSL and its constituent units. Efforts shall be focused on increasing levels of private support, for current use, endowment and capital purposes for priorities established by Academic and Student Affairs (ASA), UW Student Life, and Student Life constituent units.

DSL is a sizeable division in ASA that supports an engaged and vibrant student experience through environments that demand commitment to the academic, intellectual, and social success of UW students in and beyond the classroom.

What You Will Do:
 

  • Manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects and alumni by developing relationships or facilitating relationships with those who have the capacity to make major gifts at or above the $50,000 level.

  • Build and sustain long-term partnerships and trust while aligning donor passion and goals with those of the university.

  • Provide strategic leadership to and support for the directors of Student Life constituent units in designing and implementing strategies and efforts needed to sustain donor and alumni support.

  • Evaluate student life and constituent unit advancement programs, assess progress toward goals, and report on results, regularly.

  • Participate in the development of appropriate marketing materials targeting a diverse range of constituents with an emphasis on major gift cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and events.

  • The duties and responsibilities of Fundraising and Donor Stewardship (75% of your time), Strategy and Program Development (15%), and other duties as assigned (10%) will be required during the day-to-day work of the role.

  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    A bachelor’s degree and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in institutional development/advancement, with an emphasis on cultivating and soliciting major gifts of $25K or more. Equivalent development/advancement experience outside of higher education may substitute for educational institution experience.
