Description:
The Fine Arts Department at Indiana University South Bend currently offers B.A. and B.F.A. degrees in studio arts and art education. The mission of the Fine Arts Department balances traditional and innovative approaches while merging technical skills with conceptual and critical understanding. We educate students about the power of visual arts to inform and affect society. There are five full-time faculty with specializations across a variety of media including drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and graphic design. We also have an exceptional gallery space. Graduates find employment in creative fields in the South Bend region. Some students go on to graduate education. Alumni become visual arts professionals.
The Fine Arts Department is seeking an Assistant Professor in the visual arts with the ability and willingness to teach in the department’s core curriculum. Other responsibilities include: mentoring fine art students, particularly those with a concentration or minor in ceramics and sculpture; managing and maintaining the 3-D and ceramics studio; and service to the program, college, campus, or community, such as regularly attending and participating in faculty meetings and serving on relevant committees. Tenure-track faculty are required to develop a trajectory of research and publicize their work through exhibition and or presentation as appropriate to their specialty. Faculty may also be required to teach evening, weekend, off-site, and/or online courses.
