Description:
Position Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses focused in the Health Science concentration. Design and deliver
opportunities that prioritize student professional development, including events during weeks of
welcome, networking mixers, department and campus partner collaboration activities, and
department award ceremonies. Lead strategic marketing campaigns to promote events, initiatives,
and department opportunities to students through various communication channels. Collect data
to measure the success of events and initiatives, conducing after action reviews for future planning
and program improvement. Meet service expectations of the department, school, university,
community and profession. Support research activities in the Department of Kinesiology and
Health Sciences. Other duties as assigned by the Chair of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
Required Qualifications: Earned Master’s Degree in Health Science or related field; teaching experience in
higher education; competence in teaching undergraduate courses in content areas such as health
care delivery in the U.S.; health care management; nutrition for health and disease; health
disparities in the US; personal health and behavioral change; disease trends, prevention and
control; coping and adaptation; and substance abuse. Faculty member must have demonstrated
experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or
commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. Ability to work occasional evenings and
weekends.
