Description:

  • Teach primarily undergraduate graphic design courses. Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Introduction to Graphic Design, Beginning Computer Graphics, Typography, Experience Design (UX/UI), Introduction to Multimedia, Visual Systems & Brand Identity, and advanced level design classes.
  • Typical teaching load is 12 credits per semester (3 classes).
  • Academically advise students and mentor their creative work and research.
  • Contribute to advancing the goals of the graphic and interactive design program, including curricular assessment and development.
  • Help maintain and develop various supplemental student learning resources.
  • Provide service to the department, University, students and community and continued academic and creative research.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned an MFA in graphic design or a similar graduate-level degree in a related field
  • Ability to teach a variety of core undergraduate graphic design courses that include traditional, digital, and interactive mediums.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in design techniques used in creating brand identities and visual concepts, and in visual responses to communication problems, e.g. use of hierarchy, typography, aesthetics, composition and construction of meaningful images.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in interactive mobile and web media and UX/UI design.
  • Demonstrate success in working with students and/or people of diverse backgrounds.
