The Department of Graphic Design in the College of Design at Iowa State University is welcoming applications for an Assistant or Assistant Professor of Practice to join our 17-person graphic design faculty and assist in advancing the department’s future goals. Applicants should demonstrate interest and ability to teach in all areas of graduate and undergraduate graphic design. This especially includes one or more of the following areas: history of graphic design, interaction design, web development, digital photography, creative technology, typography, experiential design, UX/UI design, or motion graphics. The successful candidate will have a strong spirit of collaboration and be committed to interdisciplinary teaching and dialogue and working with diverse groups.

We seek a candidate to join our faculty as a Lecturer at 30% Full Time Equivalent (FTE) basis for a 9-month service period. The teaching load is 1 course per semester. An appointment will be 1 year in length, renewable, and is not tenure-eligible. The expected start date is January 1, 2024.

Successful candidate must be able to:

• Develop and teach courses independently, as well as teach existing courses as part of a coordinated and dynamic team of graphic design instructors.

• Demonstrate a clear understanding of design processes and methodology as part of the creative process.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• MFA in graphic design OR BFA in graphic design + master's degree in a related discipline OR BFA in graphic design + 5 years' professional experience.
