For the Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship in the Foster School of Business: This assistant director for finance and operations manages all administrative functions in support of the center and the director. This includes budget preparation, allocation and management, strategic planning, data collection and reporting, the center's advisory board, and all major and community events to enhance the efficient functioning of the center's curriculum, programs, activities, and outreach. This position will work independently, initiating and performing complex and confidential projects, and have decsion-making authority to ensure that the administrative function conforms to Foster School of Business best practices, as well as UW policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ADMINISTRATIVE PROGRAM MANAGEMENT: Finance, Budget: development, reporting, projections, reconciliation, and resource allocation
 

  • Analyze and prepare the annual budget for the Buerk Center, which relies on funding from endowments, state funding, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and individual and alumni donors.

  • Create and present annual budget report to Center's advisory board at annual retreat meeting.

  • Work with program managers to review and develop annual event budgets.

  • Prepare and update the monthly budget report for director, with attention to careful spending and the priority of the Center and Foster School to utilize women- and minority-owned vendors. Responsible for allocating resources for each budget appropriately.

  • Develop and enforce budget procedures for the Center to ensure compliance with University regulations that govern financial activities of the program.

  • Develop and implement budget and operational policies for the Buerk Center to ensure fiscal responsibility and best practices. Responsible for the oversight and management of general operations for the Buerk Center.

  • Reconcile expenses for all Center budgets monthly to ensure accuracy and adherence to careful spending and appropriate allocations.

  • Manage and disburse student payments for 100+ fellowships and internships, prototype funding, accelerator awards, competition prizes, and expense funds.

  • Primary Buerk Center liaison to the Foster finance team, UW finance team, UW Travel office, other UW administrative offices to organize vendors, PO creation/management, payment requests, reimbursement requests, etc.

  • Assist Center staff with travel reimbursement and quarterly expense reimbursement requests.

  • Manage the financial side of the fundraising process. Produce sponsor gift requests for corporations that fund the center's various competitions, produce reports for director to track invoicing and payments. Follow-up with the sponsors on late payments.

  • Reconcile/manage staff procard expenses monthly. Develop and manage the team’s budget and procard workflow.

  • Develop, organize, and manage team staff meetings, planning retreats, team-building activities, and other operational activities.
