Description:

Provide a source of knowledge and materials to aid students in assimilating coursework. Provide support for Professional photography, and Visual Communication Careers (VCC) instructors. Give input to instructors regarding labs and assignments, including possible revisions. May also be required to provide support for the Professional Photo Studio. Provide and maintain equipment for use in the Photo Lab and Computer Labs and provide security for said equipment. Duties may also include instructing and evaluating the professional photography students regarding the professional photography studio and resale activities.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical assistance (with traditional and digital photographic processing), leadership and supervision primarily to Visual Communication Careers (VCC) photography students in the Photography/Visual Communication Careers (VCC) Labs.
  • Assist in Professional Photography Studio & Visual Communication Careers (VCC) support areas.
  • Make available an updated supply of resource materials, equipment, and supplies. Regularly inventory supplies and equipment to ensure sufficient quantities of chemicals and darkroom supplies are available in the lab; order more as needed. This may include purchasing/picking up materials off campus.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with faculty and supervisors regarding facilities, equipment, and overall lab environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in Studio Arts, AND
  • One year of teaching/tutoring experience in Studio Arts at the high school level or above.

OR

  • 4 years of work experience in Studio Arts where no degree/certificate/diploma/ licensure is required.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience.
