Art High School Teacher

Responsibilities:

• Create and execute a thorough art program that aligns with SCA’s curriculum and Massachusetts’ Arts Framework. Teach high school students about art with interactive and interesting lessons that cover techniques, skills, history, and theory in the art.
• Create a welcoming and inclusive learning atmosphere in the classroom that encourages collaboration, creativity, and appreciation for the many styles of art. Assist students in realizing their greatest potential by acting as a mentor and role model for them while they travel the artistic path.
• To improve art education and student learning as well as make use of technology and multimedia tools. Provide regular updates on student progress and programmatic initiatives to parents, administrators, and other stakeholders through communication.
• Engage in professional development activities to stay up to date on the most effective teaching and learning strategies in art education.
• Understand and effectively convey SCA’s philosophy, vision, and mission.

Qualifications:

• A bachelor's degree, preferably a master's degree, in art education or a comparable profession.
• A current art education teaching certification or license is preferred (a Massachusetts certification is highly desirable).
• High School art teaching experience is highly favored
• A broad range of artistic forms should be included and taught with a strong background in art instruction, history, and theory.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities, with the capacity to inspire and motivate learners from a variety of backgrounds and learning preferences.
• The ability to collaborate with coworkers, administrators, parents, and community members has been demonstrated.
• Dedication to creating a welcoming, inclusive learning environment that prioritizes fairness, diversity, and cultural sensitivity.
• The capacity to successfully use technology in program administration and art instruction.
• A sincere passion for empowering young artists to realize their full potential and a sincere desire to inspire and educate art.
