Architectural Designer

Description:

The Architectural Designer will be responsible for designing additions, renovations and ground up homes, from initial concept development through construction documentation. You will work closely with clients, fellow designers and other stakeholders to create innovative designs that balance aesthetics, functionality, and cost. This role requires a strong understanding of architectural principles, interior design trends, residential building codes, residential zoning concepts and the ability to translate client needs into timeless, practical solutions. We are also open to bringing on a designer with more of an interior design background. If that aligns with you experience, we would love to receive your application.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop architectural designs for single-family homes.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their vision, needs, and budget, and incorporate these into creative design solutions.
  • Prepare detailed architectural drawings, including floor plans, interior and exterior elevations, sections, and 3D renderings.
  • Ensure designs comply with local building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards.
  • Work with engineers, contractors, clients and city officials to ensure design feasibility and timely project delivery.
  • Conduct site visits and collaborate during the construction phase to ensure design intent is realized.
  • Stay current with design trends, materials and programmatic preferences.
  • Participate in design reviews and make necessary adjustments to meet client and project requirements.
  • Measure and draw existing conditions for your projects and assist others when they need assistance measuring for a new project.
  • Craft construction budgets to assist clients in deciding on the work they would like to proceed with.
  • Lead and manage a bid process with the qualified contractors that bid to construct our client's projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
  • 1+ years of experience in residential architecture design.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD or Vectorworks, SketchUp or Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong ability to research and analyze building codes, zoning regulations, and construction methods.
