Description:

Duties

  • You will evaluate engineering and architectural designs, drawings, specifications, and supporting documents to determine feasibility, compatibility with other work, and effectiveness in meeting requirements.
  • You will design construction projects using computer software (e.g., Computer Aided Design and Drafting [CADD], Specs-In-Tact).
  • You will develop solutions to resolve project conflicts and disagreements revolving around scope, criteria, technical architect-engineer problems, and areas of responsibility.
  • You will identify areas of concern with construction projects (e.g. clearances, environmental impact, energy conservation, life safety, physical handicap criteria) to maintain compliance with laws and regulations.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying knowledge of architectural concepts, principles and practices to the design and construction of facilities; 2) Providing technical recommendations/solutions to engineering problems encountered during the administration of construction projects; 3) Performing cost estimates, feasibility studies and/or constructability reviews in the construction of facilities; and 4) Developing mitigation strategies or alternatives to alleviate risks associated with design and construction.
