Description:
As Ahoy’s first Business Development/Agency Sales Executive, you will work with existing and prospective agencies, brokers, wholesalers (including principals, marketing managers and individual producers), and other distribution partners to develop profitable business and sources of new business. The sales executive will be responsible for the building and execution of an effective agency management plan to achieve maximum production and profit goals. Your compensation will include base salary and an aggressive incentive plan based upon production and profitability of developed business. This is a key leadership role, helping to define and lead the execution of the rapid expansion of a quickly growing PE backed business.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
· Has responsibilities for developing and executing a productive sales plan, accounting for overall market conditions, company objectives and competitors
o Establishes and delivers on action plans for achieving objectives, including the right number and mix of agents/producers. Attainment of volume and profitability targets.
o Gathers, analyzes and maintains competitive information for applicable market(s). Makes appropriate recommendations based on competitive landscape and industry trends.
o Champions a disciplined sales process and sales administration responsibilities. Create tools, processes, approaches, knowledgebase, best practices, and anything else needed so to support establishment of an agent sales team.
· Has responsibilities for securing, developing and managing broker/agency/partner relationships
o Prospects, appoints, and manages applicable relationships to achieve production, profitability, persistency, and retention objectives. e.g. those that have recreational boating portfolio or large personal lines portfolio.
o Prioritizes and leverage contacts for personal meetings and telephone contact with agents, which also may require frequent travel for face-to-face meetings.
o Maintains a current knowledge of channel, including source and nature of agents' business.
· Markets and provides strategic training on products and services to prospective and existing brokers/agencies/partners
o Interprets, explains, and educates agents/producers on products (features, market placement, techniques to market/sell, etc.), practices and services, and technology solutions and/or integration needs.
o Creates demand by providing tools and information that differentiates Ahoy, partnering with product leadership, marketing, underwriting where applicable.
o Attend appropriate industry conferences and events.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 3-5 years of insurance sales experience. P&C experience selling into agencies and brokerages is preferred
· Familiarity and expertise in the Recreational Marine ecosystem is a plus
· Proven track record of sales performance; should be a highly driven and self-motivated individual with a strong desire to win
· Strong entrepreneurial mindset, with ability to flourish in unstructured environments with levels of independence and uncertainty
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
· Exceptional sales and negotiation skills, with sales presentation experience.
· Technologically savvy and comfortable leveraging basic business and sales enablement tools (e.g. Slack, Zoho CRM, BI dashboards, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
· Ability to recruit, train, and motivate people.
· Ability to travel.
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
