Adventure Guide

Description:

Join our team as a rail car guide and get paid to do what we consider fun! As a guide, you will lead outdoor tours onboard our electric assist rail cars along our 6 mile railroad track and take part in activities related to facilitating tours. This is an active job that does require some physical work as well as customer service. You will be working outside for most of the shift where you will enjoy the beautiful and often cool Monterey weather.. This is also a very rewarding and fun job and many of our employees do this because they have a passion for what we do. Handcar Tours is a growing business in the Monterey area and the top-notch experience we provide is a product of our great team of staff.

Duties:
- Lead rail excursions on our electric-assisted rail bikes and handcars
- Communicate effectively with participants to ensure safety and enjoyment throughout the journey
- Utilize public speaking skills to engage and educate groups on the safety, history, and instruct them on how to ride the rail cars.
- Provide top-notch customer service by addressing participant needs and concerns promptly
- Manage time efficiently to maintain schedules and ensure smooth operation of activities

Requirements:
- A certain amount of physical fitness is required to do this job. You will have to turn levers to change tracks, turn railcars on our turntable, push rail cars into storage, etc

- Excellent communication skills to interact with participants of diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency in public speaking to engage and educate groups effectively
- Strong customer service orientation with a focus on ensuring participant satisfaction
- Attention to safety and observant to surroundings

*CPR and first aid certification is a plus and results in a higher starting salary
