Description:
Assist Finance/Human Resource Manager with daily operations of a fast pace nonprofit finance department.
This includes keeping books organized, maintaining accurate records, and filing in all types of electronic systems. This position requires excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, 3+ years of A/P, and A/R with QuickBooks experience; and commitment from one who wants to make an impact in a high-performing nonprofit organization.
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS:
- Assist with day-to-day aspects of bookkeeping and accounting including but not limited to payroll,
A/P, A/R, journal entries, bank deposits and reconciliations.
- Maintain organizational cost allocation plan and ensure all expenditures are allocated accordingly and in compliance with U.S. Government Administrative and Cost Principles.
- Document, organize and maintain financial records in support of all activities.
- Update and maintain familiarity with accounting software and other third-party applications.
- Assist in the execution of payroll activities using a third-party payroll service provider reconciling all reports to general ledger and quarterly/annual tax reports.
- Record charitable cash and in-kind donations ensuring restricted gifts are properly recorded and expended per donor instructions.
- Maintain subsidiary ledgers including notes payable, fixed assets, payroll/fringe benefit, and insurance allocations.
- Prepare monthly expense allocations and reconcile to general ledger balances and/or third-party statements regularly.
- Prepare all claim statements and supporting documentation for government-related grants and contracts.
- Coordinate and provide all supporting financial statements, reconciliations, and confirmations to assist with annual financial audits, grant monitoring, tax return preparations, and other reviews as required.
- Help design and maintain internal controls to ensure financial reports are free of misstatements due to fraud or error.
