The Academic Learning Technologist supports Strayer Faculty to leverage course room technology and strategies to enhance student and Faculty experience and success. This position collaborates directly with the Learning Technology team to support Strayer Faculty and leaders. This role also supports operational aspects of managing Assistant Faculty (AF) including analyzing utilization, preparing talent forecasts, providing onboarding and training, and overseeing accurate and timely timesheet submissions. This position reports to the Director, Faculty Operations.

This is a full-time, remote position that requires a flexible work schedule as well as evening and weekend hours as needed by the course.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a leader, mentor, and change agent in leveraging technology to enhance student and Faculty experience.

  • Provide training and support for Faculty and Assistant Faculty (AF) on new and existing technology, mentor instructors on tool utilization, guide to helpful resources, contribute to AF onboarding, and host ongoing training sessions in collaboration with the Learning Technology team.

  • Work between terms to troubleshoot issues, guide assistant faculty work while faculty are on break, and ensure the courses are set up for success at the start of the term.

  • As requested, audit course room shells and provide feedback.

  • Support quality assurance and best practices by reviewing course content, evaluating effectiveness of educational tools, identifying opportunities for improvement, and leveraging efficient processes and workflows.

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specified courses, build faculty-specific elements into the course shells, and support video editing and playlist creation in partnership with the Digital Learning Team.

  • Attend roadmap calls and partner with Faculty and Assistant Vice Provost to address course updates.

  • Maintain regular communication with the Learning Technology Team and provide insights on academic and programmatic-specific initiatives.

  • Perform analysis related to Faculty Action Center outreach, course success, assignment submission rate for Faculty leaders.

  • Ensure Assistant Faculty team submits timely and accurate timesheets.

  • Analyze Assistant Faculty utilization by course, make recommendations on reallocation of talent to support course needs, and forecast hiring needs.

  • Stay abreast of emerging learning technologies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Skills:

  • Project management skills and experience coaching, leading teams directly and/or through influence, and acting as a change agent.

  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and practices and comfortability with changing pedagogical methodology.

  • Experience assessing individual and group learning needs and adapting teaching to diverse learning styles.

  • Highly effective written and verbal communicator with ability to express complex principles in simple terms.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, and ability to work effectively on a team.

  • Strong attention to detail, initiative, time management, and follow-through.

  • Experience in online, adult student teaching environment and experience applying learning methodologies to design and develop both online and on-campus courses.

  • Strong knowledge of Excel, smart sheet, powerBI, and immerging technologies.

  • Ability to utilize current learning management systems to creatively use technologies to facilitate learning.

  • Ability to use analytics to inform data-driven decisions in academic, instructional, and business contexts.

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.

Work Experience:

  • Previous teaching assistant/assistant Faculty experience, online teaching experience, and experience in the field of study is preferred and may be required depending on course credentialing requirements.

  • Three to five years of related work experience.

  • Three to five years of teaching experience.

Education:

  • Master’s degree required from a regionally accredited institution. A terminal degree may be required depending on course credentialing requirements.
